Transaction Monitoring and Payment Screening Lead

Job Summary

The Transaction Monitoring and Payment Screening Lead is responsible for day-to-day management of the Transaction Monitoring and Payment Screening team within BHFS Compliance Operations. Transaction Monitoring and Payment Screening team are charged with ongoing review and execution of alerts, cases, escalations and required actions triggered by the BHFS transaction monitoring financial crime tool. Compliance the operations team responsible for executing BHFS’s AML/CTF and FS program ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations and guidelines.  This role reports into the Head of Compliance Operations in BHFS.

Key Responsibilities:

  •  Designing, implementing and reviewing transaction monitoring rules and provide transaction monitoring expertise, SME support to the Transaction Monitoring and Payment Screening team, BHFS and Compliance Operations.

  • Designing, building and managing the Transaction Monitoring and Payment Screening team within Compliance Operations to support EEA and UK New and Existing Customers.

  • Designing and implementing payment screening rules and provide screening expertise, SME support to Transaction Monitoring and Payment Screening team, BHFS and Compliance Operations.

  •  Assist in the implementation and ongoing development of financial crime tooling for Compliance Operations to support the ongoing development of transaction monitoring and payment screening.

  • Building out Processes, Procedures, and training needs for Transaction Monitoring and Payment Screening team.

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive work-paper standards and templates for the effective and consistent documentation of activity reviews and disposition conclusions across Transaction Monitoring and Screening.

  • Ensure the firm’s Transaction Monitoring and payment Screening efforts meet regulatory requirements/expectations; as well as the firm's policies and procedures. 

  • Escalation of Suspicious Activity to the required MLRO.

  • Maintain a process for tracking emerging trends

  • Assist the firm’s Head of Compliance Operations in responding to regulatory or law enforcement 

  • Contribute to the completion of the AML/CTF and FS Compliance Risk Assessment; 

  • Responsible for Transaction Monitoring and payment Screening related Audits  

 

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in law, business, finance, or accounting preferred; or Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) or similar ICA Diploma

  • At least 4+ years' experience in AML compliance/AML/KYC Operations, preferably at a large  financial institution with a European customer base, experience in payments an advantage

  • Demonstrable track record of independently implementing and leading complex investigations, managing an efficient case management framework (including policies, procedures, work-paper documentation templates/standards, job aids, Quality Assurance, monitoring against aging, and setting Key Performance/Risk Indicators for control-execution)

  • Good knowledge of local regulations and European Directives in connection with monitoring for financial crimes, requirements for conducting comprehensive investigations, and filing reports with law enforcement and regulators

  • Strong analytical skills, able to manipulate data, produce MI, and prepare reports; 

  • Proven experience providing effective oral and written communication

  • Ability to identify issues and develop risk-based solutions that satisfy relevant regulations while executing sound business judgement

  • Experience of supervising and managing a team, of varying levels of experience and subject matter expertise; experience developing AML/CTF and FS related training is an advantage

  • Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written 

  • Must have good planning and time management/prioritisation skills 

  • Ability to work independently and also to liaise with other departments 

  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a matrix environment.
