Job Overview

Booking Holdings is currently undergoing a Finance Transformation initiative that will drive effective finance/accounting support for business management; promote strong governance and control in the organization; and have a world-class finance organization in terms of execution and efficiency.

To support this transformation, we are hiring a Global Process Owner, Accounting within the Global Business Services organization. This role, reporting to the VP, Assistant Controller & Global Process Owner, will be responsible for establishing functional objectives in line with the organization’s objectives.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Overseeing the global accounting operations team, which is charged with ensuring the integrity of consolidated financial statements (management and statutory) and supervising compliance with financial policies and procedures to ensure efficient execution of global financial processes.

  • Managing resources located in different time zones and cultures

  • Serving as a corporate liaison and business advisor on accounting and reporting process matters to the brand controllership teams, brand CFO’s and financial planning and analysis teams.

  • Building, establishing, leading and scaling all aspects of operational accounting processes associated with revenue accounting, intercompany, payments and fixed assets.

  • Providing leadership to drive alignment and process standardization across the Booking Holdings brands globally.

  • Leading process transformations and delivery of key record-to-report programs (on-going and future projects) across multiple global entities.

  • Partnering with global stakeholders to define clear roles and responsibilities and develop actionable plans for people, process and system integration.

  • Identifying and helping drive resolution of accounting issues that have an impact on the business and alerting  the technical accounting team.

  • Overseeing operational implementation of new accounting standards, policies & procedures to ensure consistency and compliance in partnership with the technical accounting team.

  • Liaising with risk and control and functional leads to ensure proper internal controls are in place.

  • Helping to define a strategic end-state that not only significantly improves the speed of the current close process, but also enhances control and governance mechanisms, increases transparency and reliability of data, is nimble enough to timely react to changes in the regulatory standards, is efficient and effective in its use of resources across locations and is well supported by a technology platform (“best in class”).

  • Assisting in the identification and development of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to objectively and continually assess process performance and determine process health.

  • Identifying and escalating opportunities to leverage new technologies such as robotic process automation to drive efficiencies.

  • Establishing strong relationships with all levels of business cross-functional stakeholders, manage stakeholder expectations and facilitate discussions to ensure information flow, transparency, collaboration and effective execution of solutions aligned to business needs.

  • Identifying and driving opportunities to centralize, automate or outsource activities in a scalable, sustainable and standardized manner.

  • Collaborating with the business to ensure resources are properly trained on processes, policies, and systems.

Qualifications

  • BS degree in Accounting, Finance, or General Management 

  • CPA or MBA preferred with public accounting / audit experience preferred

  • Minimum 12 years of Finance and Accounting experience in a complex multinational organization

  • 5 years of technical accounting experience

  • Understanding of GAAP and IFRS 

  • Experience leading and/or supporting cross functional business services with an emphasis on Finance and Accounting functions

  • Demonstrated experience working in a matrixed global environment

  • Ability to influence and drive change at all levels of the organization 

  • Proven ability to implement business process changes to improve operating efficiencies

  • Executive presence, ability to interact with executives at high levels to resolve issues or effect changes

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to interface with all levels of management and customers

  • Ability to lead a remote function or team

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive decisive action on process improvement issues

  • Maintain effectiveness in continually evolving environment

  • 20% travel average during normal circumstances
